The National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) pledges its support to Peace Initiative.

eventsThe National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Assistant Director in Civic Education and Advocacy Mr Killian Nyambu has pledged his support to the Kenya Scouts Association’s Peace Advocacy initiative. In his speech during the flagging off of the Association’s Embu – Nairobi Peace Walk dubbed “Advocating for Peace, A drug free generation and a Green environment”, Mr Nyambu stated that the NCIC is ready to work hand in hand with the Association in spreading the message of peace in the country.

Mr Ray Charles Musau, the Kenya Scouts Association Chief Commissioner encouraged the young men and women (Rover Scouts) taking part in the walk to stay true to the principles of Scouting stating that their duty to others and self is the driving force behind their call to serve. He added that the call for peaceful co-existence is a collective one and their participation in advocating for this will go a long way in safe guarding the future of this nation.

Mr Francis Kooli OGW, Superintendent Administration Police and Founder Peace Ambassador Kenya, thanked the Association for it efforts in nurturing the youth to be productive citizens of the nation and instilling in them values that will not only propel them to greater heights but also safe guard the core value of any nation – Brotherhood. He commended the participating Rover Scouts and urged them to keep on Advocating for peaceful co-existence among Kenyans.

The four day peace walk was flagged off on the 24th of November, 2014 with participants expected to walk 145Km across three counties (Embu, Kiambu and Nairobi) holding public forums in Embu, Ngurubaini, Makuyu, Thika, Juja, Ruiru and Nairobi. The forums are aimed at sensitizing the public on the importance of peaceful co-existence, the effects of drugs and substance abuse and the importance of conserving the environment.

In attendance was Mr Jonathan Omondi Youth Programme Assistant (Africa Regional Scouts Office), Mr Bosco Sombe (Ag. Treasurer KSA), Mr. Josephat Gitonga (Deputy NEC & Programme Executive KSA), Mr Zacharia Obati (National Rovers Coordinator KSA) and Ms Elidah Muthoni (County Scouts Commissioner Embu).
