Kenya Scouts Association donates Sewing and Knitting Machines to Kisii Institution

We are creating a better world as #Kenya #scouts by #givingbacktothecommunity. In line with our mission of educating young people to play a constructive role in society, we donated sewing and knitting machines to Kissi Rehabilitation Centre in Kisii County to aid in empowering the #youth at the institution through skill-based training for self-reliance.

The Centre Manager Mr Thomas Molo thanked the Association for the donation and continued support to the #scouts at the institution, sentiments echoed by the County Director of Social Development in the region Mr Richard Bosire who appreciated the efforts of the Movement in the empowerment of young people in the country and beyond.

The Association’s Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Executive Mr Patrick Wambua urged other like-minded organizations to support similar initiatives as we all strive to create a better future for young people in the country.

Ms Risper Omala the Communications Officer at the Association appreciated the efforts made by the rehabilitation centre to introduce ICT training stating that the Association’s strategic plan champions the Promotion of Innovation and Technology among Scouts as technology is the pen and paper of our time and a lens through which we experience our world.

Mr Edgar Mwarumbu, Youth Adviser World Scout Committee further urged the students at the centre to embrace ICT as this opens up endless opportunities for them to market their skills and businesses. These sentiments were echoed by Mrs Joyce Jowi the Finance Officer at the Association who encouraged the young people to positively embrace opportunities offered to them to better themselves.

Kisii Rehabilitation Centre offers skill-based training in Woodwork, Dressmaking, Knitting, Welding, Hairdressing and ICT to Persons Living with Disabilities.
