Scouts Regional Competitions 2025

Scouting is more than just campfires and badges — it’s a vibrant movement that cultivates leadership, teamwork, and resilience in young people. One of the most thrilling aspects of Scouting is its wide range of competitions that challenge Scouts to apply their skills in real-world scenarios. These events blend fun with purpose, creating unforgettable experiences that shape confident, capable individuals.

This year, the Scouts Regional Competitions took place in ten regions from 3rd to 6th July 2025, and saw over 35,000 Scouts across the country being tested on their competencies in Scouting Skills, Environmental Conservation, Creative Expression, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Leadership Skills.

These competitions also featured Scouts Bands, which competed for a chance to represent their region at the National Scouts Competitions, to be held from Saturday, 2nd to Tuesday, 5th August 2025 at Rowallan National Scouts Camp.

The Chief Commissioner of the Association, Mr. Victor Radido, emphasized the importance of providing Safe Spaces for Scouts to carry out their activities, in line with the Association’s Safe from Harm Policy.

This directive saw all competition venues across the country complying with laid-down safety guidelines and procedures, including the presence of Safe from Harm Implementors and Listening Ear.

During the competitions, over 7,000 Patrol Leaders were trained on the Patrol Leaders Course, a Scouts leadership training program designed to empower Scouts with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to lead their patrols effectively by enhancing teamwork, communication, and decision-making abilities.

The course also instills a deeper understanding of the Scout Method and Patrol System in preparation for their management of patrol activities, duties, and challenges.

The competition provided a platform for meaningful interactions and exchange amongst Scouts, and opportunities for Skill Mastery, Leadership Development, and Teamwork, hence creating arenas for growth.

These events foster the spirit of adventure, where memories are made and ordinary young people are transformed into the leaders of today.

SCOUTS MAKING A DIFFRENCE

In an effort to contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) No. 3 — Good Health and Well-being — Roboas Scouts Open Crew Western Region, lead an Anti-Jigger Campaign in Vihiga sub- county to promote hygiene, dignity, and care to members of this community.

Removing jiggers, treating wounds, and improving hygiene prevents reinfection and promotes physical and mental well-being. Together, Scouts across the country are creating healthier homes and stronger communities in jigger infected areas.

Jiggers, also known as tungiasis, are a significant health issue in Kenya, affecting an estimated 2 million people. Western Kenya, particularly in rural areas, high prevalence of jiggers infections are reported , with some communities experiencing infestation rates as high as 50%. Children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to jigger infestation and face stigma and social isolation.

This grassroots health action by Scouts contributes not only to the global progress in the actualization of the SDGs but also serves as an example of compassion and adherence to the Scout principal of  duty to others.
